Biography

Moniteur Jim Liebich has been fencing competitively for ten years in the Bay Area. Jim is currently a B rated fencer in epee, and a D rated fencer in foil. In the 2005 Summer Nationals, Jim placed 7th in the Division III Men's Epee competition, out of 167 fencers.

In 1999, Jim began coaching at the Sonoma Fencing Academy and eventually earned his Moniteur teaching degree from the prestigious French Fencing Federation. He is currently working on his Provost degree to improve his skills as a coach, and continues to compete. Jim teaches many fencing classes in Sonoma County for both youth and adult fencers. He regularly teaches classes at the Finley Center in Santa Rosa and the Sebastopol Community Center, as well as Sonoma State University. Jim is also a guest instructor for the PE program at the Willowside Middle School in Santa Rosa.
