January News
January has been an exciting and eventful month for En Garde Fencing, and we're only halfway through it! First, we've moved into a new temporary space at the Odd Fellows Hall at 545 Pacific Avenue, across the street from the Santa Rosa Junior College. The new space is a little more useable than the Glaser Center, but still not ideal for our purposes. Rest assured that I am working hard on getting us an appropriate permanent space in Santa Rosa. I will, of course, keep everyone updated on the latest when I have more to report.
Next, we've had a couple of neat articles written about the sport of fencing in Sonoma County, and I'd like to share them with you.
The first was an article written for the Pacific Sun recently in their movie review section. I went to a movie with one of their columnists, David Templeton, and had a little discussion about fencing and the kid's movie "The Tale of Despereaux." It was a great article and a good movie too. I'm sure kids would love it. Check out the article at http://www.pacificsun.com/news/show_story.php?id=598&e=y.
The next article of note is the story in the Press Democrat about the Girls Sports Expo, held on January 10th. En Garde Fencing participated and instructed over 100 girls that day. It was a lot of fun, and everyone had a great time poking each other with foils and sabers. Check out the article (http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20090110/ARTICLES/901100278) online, and don't forget to have a look at their photo gallery(http://www.pressdemocrat.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Avis=SR&Dato=20090110&Kategori=NEWS&Lopenr=110009998&Ref=PH&show=galleries, it's great!
That's all the news we have for now, but be sure to check back for more updates in the month of January.
