En Guard Fencing Newsletter Volume 1 Issue 5
To any of you who are just receiving these emails, I am Emily, a student of Jim's. I sometimes put out these newsletters to let everyone know what is going on in the club and any deals/videos pertaining to fencing I come across.
First it is important to note that Wednesday and Friday night classes are no longer at the Glasser center downtown. We have moved our location to The Odd Fellows Hall at 545 Pacific Ave.
Secondly, En Garde is hosting its first in club tourney! From our website:
"This tournament will have three events, and be a fun En Garde community get-together. Bring the whole family and stay for the whole time! The first event check-in will start at 10:00AM, sharp. Please don't be late! We're going to run the youth (ages 7-12) foil event and the youth saber event at the same time. All youth fencers are welcome to fence in both the saber and foil events. The teen fencing tournament will begin about 2 hours later."
Entry per event is $10 (for the rent and for food) & we're also having a potluck. To let Jim know if you can bring something to eat or can volunteer to referee please email him at: jim@egfencing.com
For more details please see: tournament info
Thirdly our very own Jim will be involved in a charity event. As he says on the website:
"I'm participating in a special fund-raising event to raise money for the Muscular Distrophy Association. In this special event, called the "MDA Lock-up", the organizers are going to come to a place of my choosing and "arrest" me. Then they will lock me up in "jail" at the Cantina restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa on Thursday the 26th in the morning. The money I raise will be used to "bail me out." Of course, my dear friends have promised to take many pictures of my arrest, and there will likely be pictures taken of me in jail as well. Don't worry, these photos will be posted online for your amusement! If you would like to donate money to my bail and more importantly, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, please visit my MDA website and click on the red button at the top that says "Click Here.""
