En Garde Fencing In-Club Tournament!

Sunday, October 17th: Once again we are having an in-club tournament, and we'd like all of you to join us. Come for the food, fencing and good fun. The tournament will have five events, and is meant as a fun, easy way to learn how to participate in an important part of the sport of fencing. Plus, this will be an En Garde Fencing community get-together. Bring the whole family and stay as long as you like. In-Club tournaments are a great way to challenge yourself and find new confidence as a fencer in a safe, familiar place. The following is our schedule for the day.

En Garde Fencing in-club tournament

  • Youth Saber Check-in close: 10AM
  • Youth Foil Check-in close: 12:00PM
  • Teen/Adult Foil, Saber and Epee Check-in close: 3:00PM
  • The words "Check-in close" mean that you should arrive prior to the time listed in order to be in the tournament. We will open registration at 9:30AM that day.

The object of this tournament is to not only bring our community together, but to give our fencers a chance to put all their hard work and training to the test in competition with their peers. This is one more way we have to bring our fencers together, giving them the support and encouragement they need to grow and develop important skills such as confidence, the ability to sucessfully confront unfamiliar situations, perseverance, and so much more. It will be a fun, supportive atmosphere where everyone learns how a tournament works in the sport of fencing. We will take the time to explain the rules and encourage students to ask questions so that everyone learns the ins and outs of competition, including the parents! And yes, there will be prizes for the top finishers.

    What to bring

    • Yourself and your family. This is going to be a fun family event, and we'd like everyone to have a chance to get together and get to know each other.
    • A little food and drink. Fencers need energy to compete! Also, we'd really like to make this a potluck as well, so if you'd like to volunteer to bring something to share, please email jim@egfencing.com or give him a call at 433-8102 to work out the details.
    • Fencing gear, if you have some. Jim will have enough fencing gear for everyone to use if you don't have any.

    How long will this take?

Plan on staying at least 3 hours per event. We'll do our best to get through the event quickly and efficiently, but these things do take time. Volunteering will help make the event go faster, so if you'd like to help out, please let Jim know. Referees from the teen and adult fencers are especially welcome, because that will make everything go more smoothly.

    How much will this cost?

This tournament will cost $10 to enter.
